There are tons of claims about certain piercings easing migraines, curing anxiety, and helping depression. The truth is that there is nothing reputable to back these claims! However, piercings CAN be a helpful tool to help you through tough mental times. Here's how.
Getting a piercing is a form of self-care and self-expression. It gives you a positive light to focus on in the midst of dark times. It doesn't matter where you get pierced- what matters is that you have decided to do something for yourself. You got inspired to get the piercing, you made the appointment, and you showed up to get the piercing done!
Especially if you have anxiety, going through the process of getting the piercing and facing your fears gives you a positive experience to look back on and think "I can do this!" whenever you encounter future problems.
I think it's important that we realize that there are no magical piercing locations, but that doing something out of love for ourselves has a power to heal us and make us feel much better, and that facing hard things with excitement and determination can completely change our outlook on life!
So, whenever you experience hardship in your life, don't forget to take the time to pause and do something solely for you. It's not selfish, and your future self will thank you greatly.
I personally have gotten some of my piercings throughout the roughest times in my life, and as I look at them I am reminded of the hardship and the strength that it took to get through it. In turn I remember that I am a strong person, and that I can take on whatever life throws at me with a smile 💫
