If you want to have an amazing piercing experience, less risk of infection, and love your piercing forever then you need to do your research when picking out a piercing shop and a piercer! ✨ This week I will go over a few key points to consider when looking for a piercer.
First you should research the reputation of the shops near you! Check them out on yelp, google and facebook reviews to ensure that other people have been happy with the shop's performance. Choose the one with the highest reviews to look into further.
Be sure that you can look at the piercers portfolios! You'll usually find them on instagram or the shop may have a hard copy. Check their work and make sure their style is something you want. Bonus points if the piercer is APP certified! This means they really care about giving you a quality piercing with quality jewelry.
Visit the shop before setting an appointment! Check that the shop is neat and clean. Shops with all disposable tools are the best to choose due to an even lower risk of infection. Check that their jewelry for initial piercings is made of an implant grade material and is not plated or externally threaded!
Piercing shops that do quality work will be a bit more expensive, but will be well worth it to have a happy healthy piercing! This extra cost ensures that everything is extremely clean, and that everyone involved truly cares about your well being.
For example. there is a tattoo shop in my town that offers $5 piercings on Wednesdays, and while this seems like an amazing deal, it is actually not. The piercers are generally inexperienced and the shop is not immaculate, so a lot of people that get pierced there end up very unsatisfied with their piercings due to complications and end up thinking badly of all piercings in general! Don't let this happen to you or your friends!
Start out by checking the app website here to see if there's an APP member near you.
Its really important that you don't skimp out on any of these aspects. Be sure to do your research and put in the time to find your piercer! Piercings are a procedure, and you should put as much research into it as you would to find someone to do your dental work.
I hope this mini guide has been helpful and that you guys have a little more insight into choosing a piercing shop!
Until next week,
Kourtney 🖤
