Very often in Instagram comments or Facebook Groups I see people recommending to crush up aspirin and slather it on your piercing bump to get ride of it. This is not safe advice, and here's why!
Will it get rid of your piercing bump? YES. It will get rid of your bump. But it works by burning off the skin covering the bump and most likely will also cause chemical burns on the skin surrounding the bump that was previously healthy! This is not ideal for any piercing, and you're likely to come out of the situation with a bigger mess than the bump you started with.
Piercing bumps have several different causes, and using Aspirin is useless if your jewelry size or length is causing the irritation bump! You can burn it off with aspirin paste but then it will just come right back. It is much more beneficial to find the cause of your bump and move forward with a treatment from there.
Take a look at this blog we made discussing the three different types of piercing bumps and the different treatment options you can take to improve the condition of your bump.
Remember that getting rid of a bump takes patience and time- please don't settle for harmful treatment methods in the meantime.
Until Next Time,
