For this week's blog post, we decided to do a Q&A style post! We asked you guys via our instagram story for questions, so it's time to answer them!
Q: How do you wear earbuds when you have a daith and a tragus in?!
A: When your tragus jewelry is properly downsized as your piercing heals, it will be no problem to slide an earbud in with the piercing! Just slide the jewelry out where any slack is in the front and not on the inside. As for your daith- that one is a little tricky and usually requires a lot of fiddling. There is no blanket answer for the daith because everyones ears are so different! But it is important not to try wearing earbuds if your daith is not healed as you can cause hypertrophic scarring by messing with it too much!
Q: Is there any piercing you CAN sleep on?
A: Unfortunately, no. There is no piercing that you can sleep on without messing up the piercing. When you sleep on them it causes stress on the sides of the hole and may cause bumps and you will end up with a crooked piercing! I suggest looking into getting a neck pillow, and sleeping with your ear in the center of it. It allows you to still sleep on your favorite side without messing up your piercing! Once the piercings are healed, and have the proper size jewelry in, it will not hurt to sleep on them!
Q: Any tips on hiding piercings?
A: Clear retainers are probably your best bet! Unless it is a septum, where you can flip it up into your nose.
Q: Is it true that when you get multiple piercings at once, it is more possible for your body to reject them?
A: This is true to an extent. Think of it like a mild cut versus a deep cut- the deep cut will obviously take longer to heal up, just like three piercings will take longer to heal than one. But you do not necesarily need to worry about them rejecting just because you got more than one. If the piercings are done correctly by a reputable piercer and you provide the proper aftercare you should not have an issue. Poorly placed piercings with improper jewelry will always have a higher chance of rejecting, whether you got one or four at once!
Q: If an ear piercing keeps getting infected from time to time should it be removed completely?
A: First, you should see your piercer as the answer will vary from person to person and case to case. If your piercer says it is safe for you to keep the piercing then it will be up to you whether or not you want to continue to deal with the piercing when it flares up! It may be that you just need a jewelry change and it will stop being irritated! I have a 7 year old cartilage piercing that acts up every now and then, and every time I wear a hoop in it for extended periods of time it bothers me, but then goes back down when I put the correct size labret in!
Q: How do you get rid of Keloids?
A: Check out our Piercing Bumps 101 video! 😉
Q: Can anyone get a smiley piercing?
A: A smiley piercing can be given to anyone that has enough room on their lip frenulum! The decision should ultimately be trusted to your piercer.
That's all for this week guys! Keep up with our Instagram stories for the next Q & A and to keep up with new styles and jewelry! 💕
Until next week,
