I have blogged a lot about what to do or what you should know before getting a piercing, so now it's time to talk about What NOT to do When Getting A Piercing!
First and foremost, please don't forget to tell your piercer if you are squeamish, don't like blood, or have passed out from getting a piercing before. It is common for brand new piercings to bleed, so it's important that your piercer knows about any of these things before getting started so they can best accommodate you.Β
Never drink alcohol or take any sort of blood-thinning medication before getting pierced! when your blood is thinner it is hard for your body to clot the blood and stop the new piercing from bleeding way more than it should.
If you feel like you would be more comfortable having a friend or family member with you while getting a piercing then by all means bring someone! Please be sure that whomever you bring will be polite and not disrupt the piercer or anyone else in the shop as they work.
Be sure that you don't forget to eat anything before getting your new piercing! Your body will be much better equipped to deal with the stress of the needle if you're not running on an empty stomach.
If you have the means, you should always be sure that you don't forget to tip your piercer for their work β¨ Even a little bit can go a long way in supporting our piercers!
This one may seem obvious, but please try to stay as still as possible while getting pierced! If you move or flinch, you could displace the piercing or cause it to be crooked. Then you'll be stuck with a less-than-perfect piercing and you piercers work doesn't represent them in a good way.
That's all from my list of dont's! Now make that appointment and go get pierced as safely as possible!
Until next time,
Kourtney π
