One of the questions we get over on Instagram the most is how much do certain piercings hurt. Over the years, we have polled our followers many many times about the pain scale of each piercing and today I'm going to share with you the least and most painful piercings!
I want to start by addressing that these are averages and that pain is really dependent on a lot of factors such as the individuals pain tolerance, their anatomy, their piercers skill, etc,. Regardless of the pain, you can rest assured that the whole piercing process is over very quickly! ππ»
The ear lobes are by far the least painful place to be pierced. Their thick flesh is filled with many blood vessels that help the piercing heal more quickly!
As for other piercings- as a general rule, the thicker the cartilage the more painful the piercing.Β
The daith and the rook tend to be the piercings that most people find the most painful. The daith sits far inside the ear and both go through some pretty thick cartilage! The dermal piercing is also known to be more painful since the piercer has to insert a metal base just below the skin to anchor the top into.
In the mid range we have the tragus, helix, forward helix, conch, and septum piercings. These go through thinner cartilage and are pretty bearable for the majority of people.
As far as easy breezy piercings go, you just can't beat the lobes! The lip or belly button is also very fleshy and makes for a less painful piercing.Β
I hope you enjoyed this brief blog all about piercing pain!Β
Until next week,
