Forward Helix Piercings: Everything You Need to Know
Whether you get one, two, or three of these beautiful piercings, your ear will certainly have a very unique look to it after adding a forward helix. In today's blog, we will go over all of the details of these cute piercings- from placement to healing to jewelry choices for once it's healed!
Not everyone has the anatomy to place three of these piercings, so your piercer may advise that you only get one or two. Other people may be able to place as many as five or six forward helix piercings on their ear, like this one!

Once you decide how many you want, it's time to find jewelry! There are many options that you can get installed right after being pierced as long as they are labrets at least 8mm in length and suitable for initial piercing! You can see our selection here>> Other piercers may decide to use curved barbells if your anatomy doesn't allow for a labret long enough to allow room for swelling. Be sure you find some cute jewelry so you can walk out looking cute, not in plain silver jewelry! (unless plain silver is your thing 😘)
You can opt for three of the same type like these three black opal labrets:
Or three of different types like this:
There are soooo many options for this piercing. Here is an adorable single forward helix as well:
The aftercare for this piercing is much like any other ear piercing aftercare routine, but extra care must be taken to clean the back of the piercing since it is usually tucked in behind the fold of the ear. The total healing time is on average from 3-6 months, but this of course varies from person to person based on a variety of factors!
Your labrets or curved barbells should be downsized as you heal to a 7mm, or 6mm post, and then depending on your ear maybe even down to a 4mm labret length.
Once your gorgeous new piercing is completely healed, the possibilities are endless!
You are now safe to show off large hoops like this one
Or smaller, more dainty hoops like this one
