Can I Get Re-pierced in the Same Spot?
If you've had lots of piercings, chances are you've had several failed piercings as well that you've had to remove for any reason. Sometimes this is very upsetting and you later on wish very badly that you still had that piercing! The thought of getting it redone probably crosses your mind. BUT- many of you know that an old healed piercing can still have scar tissue, so you may be wondering if it is even possible to get your piercing again in the same spot.
The answer is complicated. You need to have your professional piercer examine the place where you want to be repierced.
Sometimes the hole may not be completely healed in the inside- if the outsides of the hole are just closed it may be easy for your piercer to repierce you in the same place with little complication.
Scar tissue tends to be weaker than normal tissue, so if the piercing is completely healed inside and out your piercer will most likely want to pierce you in a slightly different location. It can be right beside the scar tissue though, so almost in the same spot.
With that being said, some piercers will also pierce through scar tissue, with some people reporting that they felt the scar tissue secured the piercing more and made it less likely to migrate!
Some people also report that the re-piercing is more painful than the initial piercing was, so this is something to keep in mind.
In conclusion, a great piercer will be able to tell you the safest and most effective way to get your lost piercing back as close to its original position as possible by looking at your specific body/ear and your specific situation!
I hope this has provided some helpful information for you all!
Until next week,
